Ever since the 1960’s hypnosis and hypnotherapy have been recognized as very effective and certainly the easiest methods of weight loss and weight control. Now, I have combined hypnosis with the new and exciting Emotional Freedom Techniques to make the best weight loss method even better and faster.
Diets don’t work. Everyone recognizes that, but for most folks it’s all they know to do. So, they just keep on dieting hoping that at some point the weight will come off and stay off.
On the surface it would appear that if a person were to reduces their caloric intake the excess weight would just go away. In many cases that is what happens. But it doesn’t stay off.
It doesn’t stay off because the underlying causes of obesity are still present. When you look at weight loss from that prospective you can see that just going on a diet is like trying to mend a broken arm with an Ace Bandage. It’s the wrong approach.
Successful weight loss and control requires a lifestyle change and this is where hypnosis is far superior to all other methods.
Obesity is a huge problem in America and just getting bigger (please pardon the pun). Any story on weight loss is usually news worthy. With that in mind, several years ago the NBC television program, Dateline, did a study on a number of different weight loss approaches. Hypnosis was one of them. As usual, Dateline did an excellent job in showing REAL PEOPLE going through the different diet programs.
The following is what they discovered.
Marc, One of the participants used hypnosis for his weight loss plan. After only one week using hypnosis lost 13 pounds.
Here is an overview.
Lynne chose the extreme exercise. At the start she can half-walk, half-jog two miles. She put herself on a daily 1,300-calorie diet. She wants to run in the Maui Marathon in Hawaii the following September.
But despite all her exercise, her weight doesn’t change in the first three months on the program.
The athlete, Mark, was 230 pounds. Mark “Gio” wanted to lose 35 pounds. He had been in good shape most of his life until a back injury immobilized him and caused him to gain weight.
He chose the Slim Fast diet, because it would be easy. But, after one week on Slim Fast and Gio is up three pounds.
Kathy went on Weight Watchers, because she has done it before with some success. She counted her points, stayed under 20 a day. Kathy said “I lost 4.8 pounds, and I was disappointed because I starved all week.”
Marc weighed 245 pounds. He wanted to lose 50 pounds. He had a rather large environmental problem to overcome. He was a pastry chef, loved food and was continually surrounded by sweets.
Marc said he had developed poor eating habits. He decided to try hypnosis. At his first hypnosis session Marc did a visualization going up an imaginary flight of stairs to get into trance. The hypnotherapist then used suggestions to help Marc want to work out and eat nutritious foods.
On the show he said he envisioned “fire coming out of his belly”. Our minds often use a metaphor to represent the releasing of emotional issues, old habits, anger and such. When your mind has a method to release the issues and conflicts, even if it is a metaphor, things change quickly.
Marc lost 13 pounds in that first week.
Eleanor weighed 300 pounds. She had never been thin. She used the workout program “Eight Minutes in the Morning,” with coach, Jorge Cruise, who created the program. He has a great program. It involves eight minutes of strength training every day, and he also does work to help with the emotional eating.
Eleanor lost only 3 pounds that week.
Rick did the famous, low-carbohydrate, Atkins diet. He also started exercising. Some of the problems he had included headaches and constipation, due to not getting enough vegetables and salad.
Rick’s lost 13 pounds on Atkins in that first week.
Three weeks into Slim Fast diet, Mark said he was starving. He repeated, “I’m hungry. I’m hungry most of the day.... I’m still going to bed hungry and waking up hungry.” Not a great way to diet. Too much pain.
The marathon training at 1,300 calories a day did not go well for Lynne. She was not losing any weight, even though she was running over 10 miles a day.
Kathy lost 18 pounds on Weight Watchers after 3 months, but commented “It was painful at times.”
Being healthy should not be painful. It should feel good and let you be excited about your progress.
Eleanor on the 8 minutes in the morning plan did great. She lost exactly 24 pounds in the first 3 months. It could have been due in part to the work that Jorge did with her concerning emotional eating. However, keeping it off was going to be a difficult challenge.
Rick, on the Atkins diet, said on the show, he was limping and suffering from painful gout.
Lynne started to eat more, 1,600 calories a day. After three months of heavy exercise, she could run 12 miles without stopping and was down 14 pounds. That is sure a lot of running for only 14 pounds if you ask me! I am sure she was in better shape... but...
Kathy and her weight watchers plan did OK, but she is felt deprived. On the show she mentioned that she was saving up her points by not eating food so she can have ONE glass of wine.
All in all Dateline did a fair and educated study on the different methods. Hypnosis was again shown to be very effective and get results quickly, easily and comfortable with the added bonus of helping people feel better, fast.
As mentioned above, keeping the weight off is a matter of lifestyle change. Much and perhaps most of a person lifestyle is dictated by negative emotions, such as stress, fear and anger. In order to make the needed lifestyle change as easy and comfortable as possible I employ EFT techniques to totally eliminate all negative feeling and emotions, before the first hypnosis session.
Negative emotions are often huge factors and when they are gone, permanently, the process of weight loss, lifestyle change and weight control is much simplified.
Hypnosis combined with EFT form a great “Stand Alone” weight loss system, but in combination they are also great for support other weight loss programs such as our new HCG based weight loss program.

Important notice: While EFT has produced remarkable clinical results, it must still be considered to be in the experimental stage and thus practitioners and the public must take complete responsibility for their use of it. EFT is still in its infancy and we have much to learn about its inner workings. In the meantime, it has been made into a user-friendly procedure so you can try it yourself. Please know, though, that some people's emotional and/or physical issues are such that they shouldn't try ANY such procedure without the presence and guidance of a qualified health professional.
It is not claim that EFT is a substitute for drugs, surgeries, radiation or other conventional medical interventions, and we encourage you to get regular medical exams and talk to your doctor or other health professionals about what treatments are best for you. Always use EFT with common sense and don't go where you aren't qualified.
Further, Jack Rhodes is not a licensed psychologist or a licensed health professional and offers EFT as an ordained minister and as a personal performance coach. Please consult qualified health practitioners regarding your use of EFT.
